General project information
Project name: Ladock Post Office & Store
Unique Ref. No.: Case009195
File Ref.: SW/E/40534
Ladock lies in a valley 7 miles from Truro, surrounded by farmland. The village and nearby hamlets consist of approx 240 households with a population of 600 people. These are mainly elderly and parents with school age children. There is a primary school, community playing field and pub. The village hall runs groups such as the WI and Parent/Toddler group. The nearest PO & shop is at Grampound Road just under 3 miles away, with no public transport link.
The previous shop & PO closed in July 2002 with a planning application being made to change to residential accomodation. The DTI has awarded the village a grant to purchase a portacabin to house a temporary PO in the village car park. This will provide easy access by foot & car as well as for disabled. Although retail sales will be limited it is proposed to stock as many essentials as possible, using local sources where available
